Event: Screen Adaptations at Raindance Film Festival
22 June 2026 | 11.00am | BAFTA, London
Join us at the Raindance Film Festival for an insightful discussion exploring the growing world of IP adaptation, examining how books, podcasts, articles, and existing brands are transformed into screen projects.
Moderated by Level’s Tony Morris, the session will consider what makes a good adaptation, how producers and writers approach adaptations, how intellectual property in works other than novels is used in screen adaptations, what a literary agent looks for from a producer for their clients, and some of the legal issues involved.
Tony will be joined by:
- Hilary Salmon, Producer
- Julian Friedman, Literary and Script Agent
- Andy Briggs, Writer and Producer
- Peter Fellow, Screenwriter, Producer and Director
Drawing on their extensive experience across the creative industries, the panel will share practical insights into the adaptation process.
This promises to be a fascinating discussion of particular interest to screenwriters and authors, as well as film and programme makers, rights holders, industry professionals and students looking to better understand the journey from original work to screen adaptation.
