ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (closes 15 May 2026)

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join our central team and support the Practice Manager, Billing Clerk, Legal Cashier, and COLP/COFA. The role is based at our office in Soho, London. This person reports into the Practice Manager.

THE ROLE

Level is a modern law firm which specialises in sports, media, and entertainment law. Level current has roughly 50 fee earners at the firm, based around the UK and beyond, and we are growing fast. We pride ourselves on providing a seamless, friction-free accounts service to our lawyers. As such, you’ll play a highly visible role, having regular contact with the partners and taking responsibility for financial operations.

The Accounts Assistant will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, working closely with the Billing Clerk, Legal Cashier, and Practice Manager. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organised, and keen to develop experience across billing, accounts receivable, and legal finance processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Billing & Accounts Receivable Support

  • Assist with raising client invoices in a timely and accurate manner
  • Allocate Fee Earner time and costs in Xero
  • Manage and maintain the firm’s Billing Document, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Support the delivery of regular updates to Fee Earners (at least monthly) on debtor positions
  • Support the maintenance of accurate debtor records, including monitoring outstanding invoices and chasing overdue invoices where required
  • Draft Requests for Funds on Account
  • Post disbursements and recharges across Clio and Xero
  • Update Clio with invoice payments based on Banking Forms

Month-End / Year-End Support

  • Assist with mid-year (January) and year-end (June) financial processes
  • Support reconciliations and reporting as required by the accounts team

General

  • Assisting with office expenses – locating receipts and invoices and posting on Xero
  • Provide ad hoc support to the wider team as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and documentation

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role preferred
  • Experience with Xero and Clio desirable, but not essential
  • Knowledge of the SRA Accounts Rules preferred, but not essential
  • Ability to work in a high-pressured environment and work to deadlines
  • Have a good knowledge of Excel, word processing, and strong IT skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Clear and confident communicator, comfortable collaborating with colleagues at all levels
