Level advise Washington Freedom in a landmark moment for professional cricket
We’re proud to have advised Washington Freedom (AcerSquare LLC) on their acquisition of a 50% stake in Welsh Fire, part of the ECB’s auction of The Hundred franchises. The transactions, six out of eight of which have now completed, mark a pivotal step in the globalisation of the competition.
Level’s multi-disciplinary team - Clare Barber (corporate/M&A), Dan Harrington (commercial), with support from Jonathan Rennie (employment) and Bill Downer (corporate associate) - advised across all aspects of this cross-border investment.
This deal builds on Level’s strong track record in complex international sports M&A and reflects Level’s continued work at the forefront of investment, commercial, and governance issues in emerging formats and challenger leagues.
Congratulations to our clients at Washington Freedom, consultant John Loffhagen, and fellow advisers Latham & Watkins, Onside Law (ECB) and Hugh James (Glamorgan CCC). We look forward to seeing Welsh Fire - men’s and women’s - light up Sophia Gardens and challenge for The Hundred trophies in seasons to come.
