Level Partner Liz Coley has produced a club-friendly digest of the 2021 edition of FIFA's Commentary on the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, published in November.

At 533 pages long, analysis of the original document presents a challenging task for clubs and their officials. This digest highlights some of the most crucial pieces of information for clubs, providing an overview of key points to bear in mind ahead of the next transfer window in January 2022. Liz has used her experience and legal knowledge to produce this highly specific overview, with the aim of making life easier for football clubs and their officials at one of the busiest times in the football calendar.

Liz is a highly experienced sports lawyer, having worked at 4 professional football clubs and The FA prior to qualifying as a lawyer. Liz offers clients an in-depth understanding of the world of professional football. Her in-house experience brings unrivalled levels of knowledge into her work. Liz exclusively practises sports law, representing a large number of clubs in relation to player contracts and transfers, compliance and regulatory issues and disputes.

Liz has undertaken secondments at both Premier League and Championship clubs, assisted clubs with the Club Secretary role and spent time with a number of clubs undertaking a contract health check and helping them to develop their own precedent documents. Her experience within club football gives her unique understanding of how clubs operate and their unique needs. She has also worked with intermediaries in relation to their representation of both players and managers/coaching staff.

She is well-versed in the specific area of player transfers, having also co-authored the chapters on ‘Contracts – Players’ and ‘Player Transfers’ in the textbook ‘Football and the Law'
