Football Paralegal

Paralegal role with Level's football team

The Level team is acknowledged in the industry as one of the market-leading teams of lawyers working with football players, agents, and clubs. On the back of another incredibly busy summer transfer window, in which the team advised on over 200 player transfers and new contracts, we’re looking for an outstanding paralegal to join our London office on a full-time basis and support the fee-earners focused on football at the firm. The role would also extend to supporting the in-house legal function at one of the firm’s football agency clients.

What are we looking for?

A paralegal with a keen interest in the football industry and its intersection with law. Experience of working in the sector is not a pre-requisite, but we do expect to see a desire to work and potentially build a career in this fast-paced area.

We’re looking for the following attributes in the successful candidate:

  • a demonstrable understanding of the key commercial/contractual issues in football;
  • a desire to learn and to go the extra mile;
  • excellent organisational skills and an ability to handle a diverse workload whilst meeting internal and external deadlines;
  • strong drafting skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a methodical and logical approach;
  • a team player, with a positive, proactive attitude and strong communication skills; an excellent academic record – at least a 2:1 degree in law or a law conversion. Further legal qualifications (e.g. LPC or SQE) are helpful, but not required; and
  • previous paralegal experience is preferred, but not essential.

What will you be doing?

Supporting Level’s football team on a wide range of matters, including assisting the fee-earners in:

  • reviewing, amending and negotiating basic contracts with players, clubs, agents and brands;
  • the conduct of regulatory, disciplinary and contentious matters for Level’s clients, including document review, proof reading and bundling; and
  • researching and preparing updates and briefing notes on developments in the sports law sector, particularly the football industry.

We think this is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is determined to forge a career in the sports law sector, with a particular focus on the dynamic, ever-changing world of football.
