Level welcomes music lawyer James Woodward to the firm
Music specialist joins the firm's rapidly expanding team
James Woodward has joined the firm’s industry ranked Music team. James brings with him years of music industry experience, seven of which were spent driving the development of the Legal and Business Affairs team at AWAL/Kobalt, where he sat across recordings, publishing, and neighbouring rights divisions.
Until recently James was based in Los Angeles, where he spent three years establishing the label’s legal team before moving to Paris this summer to begin the next chapter of his career with Level, using the unique model to work flexibly between London and Paris. At Level, James will be focused on assisting and enabling emerging talent to navigate the modern music industry in order to help them develop successful and sustainable careers through the understanding and exploitation of the multitude of revenue streams now available to artists, writers and rights holders.
On joining Level, James says:
“I was immediately drawn to the concept of Level – a firm that allows specialists like me to focus on the industries we are passionate about, on completely flexible terms. To be able to serve my industry clients to the highest level means it makes sense to be with a firm which allows me to operate independently across several regions as and when I need to, while also being part of a stellar team of other music and entertainment lawyers to bounce ideas off and share experience.”
Amy Sullivan, Level’s Head of Growth adds:
“James’s experience across the pond adds even more unique industry knowledge to our rapidly expanding Music team. We are always delighted when Level’s platform model enables another lawyer to work how they choose to, free of restrictions and able to focus on the work they love to do.”
