THE LEVEL TRAINING CONTRACT
The Level SQE training contract allows you to start working and earning at Level immediately after university, while gaining qualifying legal work experience before sitting the SQE1 and SQE2 exams to qualify as a solicitor.
Level was set up in 2017, by people who believed passionately in the need for a firm that enabled specialist lawyers to enjoy a better way of working. We are completely focused on four complementary sectors – media, entertainment, technology and sport.
Four years on and Level is now made up of numerous forward-thinking, like-minded specialist lawyers, regarded as experts in their field, who enjoy freedom and independence, whilst working in a supportive and progressive firm. We are now embarking on the next stage of our growth, including the introduction of our first training contract, beginning in 2023.
The Level experience
A training contract at Level offers aspiring lawyers the chance to train for a career in law, undertaking a broad range of exciting work across the sports, media, entertainment, and technology sectors. We are a new breed of law firm and like to do things differently. This transformative thinking applies equally to our approach to our future lawyers, which is why we are early adopters of the new SQE approach to qualifying. The 30 month training contract will involve working at Level four days a week and having one day a week to study for your SQE.
A trainee at Level can expect more client contact and direct partner training than would be the case in a firm with a traditional hierarchical structure. As a trainee you would have immediate exposure to high quality work and clients, working with up to 20 partners on a broad spectrum of client matters within our sectors.
We are also only offering one training contract, meaning that as a trainee you will receive close attention from the numerous lawyers you work with and learn from. We will also supplement your learning with additional bespoke courses plus the required Professional Skills Course.
Our HQ is in Covent Garden, a vibrant and exciting environment for young lawyers. Level is a firm designed to enable our lawyers to work remotely if they choose to, and our set up and culture ensures that support is available for a trainee at all times.

“Why Me?” video
We’d like to know what makes you stand out from the crowd and why you’re a great fit for Level – a firm full of entrepreneurial, first class lawyers. In addition to your CV and cover letter, we’re giving you the option to tell us why you should be Level’s first trainee via an optional 2 minute video message. We would envisage this being a simple piece to camera but are happy for you to send something more creative – the floor is yours! You can submit the video by email to email@example.com
Please note, the submission of a video is entirely optional and all applications will be given full consideration, whether or not a video is submitted.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any further questions
Things to note
Prospective trainees looking to start the SQE training programme must have completed a law degree or the GDL/PGDL prior to starting with Level.
Level will fully fund your training during the SQE programme.
